Consider this for a moment. You have a business website, facebook and twitter accounts. You’re in an extremely competitive industry where there’s a good percentage of new prospects searching for you on Google.
Do you:
A) Optimise just your website to appear on the front page of Google?
or
B) Optimise your website, facebook and twitter accounts?
As you can see from the picture at the top of page, Melbourne SEO Guru is now taking up Google real estate for my wordpress site (that’s sitting in position #10).
At #9 is the Melbourne SEO Guru facebook page.
#8 is twitter.
Once again, imagine your website, facebook and twitter accounts being on the front page of Google for your industry. That’s more eyes, more visits and more customers.
What would that do for your business? More sales? New staff? Expanded product range?
The strength of your brand taking up so much space on Google has a positive impact. People searching for your products and/or services would have the perception that you’re a serious on-line player and a company that they will want to interact with and tell the people in their social circles about.
After all, Google is where most people are looking for local businesses to deal with, isn’t it? Unfortunately I can’t find you a direct answer – not even on Google (irony at it’s best). Though with a population of 22 million, there would be a very high percentage of those people on Google a day.
Using social media for SEO purposes as well as advertising/marketing is simply another way to get your business in front of more people.
PS – did you know the youtube clip “Gangam Style” made Google $7m in advertising revenue?

I comment when I like a article on a site or I have something to add
I actually do have a couple of questions for you if it’s okay.
And, if you are writing at other online sites, I would like to keep up with everything new you have to post.
to the discussion. It’s caused by the sincerness communicated in the article I looked at. And on this post A social media presence that builds brand awareness via SEO | Melbourne SEO Guru. I was moved enough to write a thought
Could it be simply me or does it seem like a few of the comments come across like coming from brain dead visitors?
Would you list every one of all your community sites like
your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
Hi there! Thanks for the kind words.
Yes, a number of the comments are mostly spam. It’s unfortunate but when you post via a free blog site, it’s bound to happen.
